MIC4469CWM General Description

The MIC4467/8/9 family of four output CMOSbuffer/drivers is an expansion from the earlier single-and dual-output drivers, to which they are functionallyclosely related. Because package pin count permittedit, each driver has been equipped with a dual input logicgate for added flexibility. Placing four high-powerdrivers in a single package also improves systemreliability and reduces total system cost. In someapplications, one of these drivers can replace not onlytwo packages of single-input drivers, but some of theassociated logic as well.AlthoughprimarilyintendedfordrivingpowerMOSFETs, and similar highly capacitive loads, thesedrivers are equally well suited to driving any other load(capacitive, resistive, or inductive), which requires highefficiency, low-impedance driver capable of high peakcurrents, rail-to-rail voltage swings, and fast switchingtimes. For example, heavily loaded clock lines, coaxialcables, and piezoelectric transducers can all be driveneasily with MIC446x series drivers. The only limitationon loading is that total power dissipation in the IC mustbe kept within the power dissipation limits of thepackage.The MIC446x series drivers are built using a BCDprocess. They will not latch under any conditions withintheir power and voltage ratings. They are not subject todamage when up to 5V of noise spiking (either polarity)occurs on the ground line. They can accept up to halfan amp of inductive kickback current (either polarity)into their outputs without damage or logic upset.
