MAX44006EDT+ Features

The MAX44006/MAX44008 integrate six sensors in twoproducts: red, green, blue (RGB) sensors; an ambientlight (clear) sensor; a temperature sensor; and an ambi-ent infrared sensor with an I2C interface. These highlyintegrated optical sensors include a temperature sensorto improve reliability and performance.The devices compute the light information with six paral-lel data converters allowing simultaneous light measure-ment in a very short time. The devices consume only15FA (MAX44006) and 16FA (MAX44008) separately inRGBC + TEMP + IR mode, and also have the ability tooperate at 1.7V to 2.0V (MAX44006) and 2.7V to 5.5Vsupply voltage (MAX44008).The devices’ RGB sensing capability improves theperformance of end products by providing robust andprecise information for ambient color-sensing andcolor-temperature measurement.The devices’ superior infrared and 50Hz/60Hz rejectionprovide robust readings. The wide dynamic range lightmeasurement makes these products perfect candidatesfor many color measurement applications.The on-chip ambient sensor has the ability to make widedynamic range (0.002~8388.61FW/cm2) lux measure-ments. The devices’ digital computation power providesprogrammability and flexibility for end-product design. Aprogrammable interrupt pin minimizes the need to pollthe devices for data, freeing up microcontroller resourc-es, reducing system software overhead, and ultimatelyreducing power consumption. All these features areincluded in a tiny 2mm x 2mm x 0.6mm optical package.
