DS3882E+ General Description

The DS3882 is a dual-channel cold-cathode fluorescentlamp (CCFL) controller for applications that provide upto 300:1 dimming. It is ideal for driving CCFLs used tobacklight liquid crystal displays (LCDs) in navigation andinfotainment applications and for driving CCFLs used tobacklight instrument clusters. The DS3882 is also appro-priate for use in marine and aviation applications.The DS3882 features EMI suppression functionality andprovides a lamp current overdrive mode for rapid lampheating in cold weather conditions. The DS3882 supportsconfigurations of 1 or 2 lamps with fully independent lampcontrol and minimal external components. Multiple DS3882controllers can be cascaded to support applications requir-ing more than 2 lamps. Control of the DS3882, after initialprogramming setup, can be completely achieved throughI2C software communication. Many DS3882 functions arealso pin-controllable if software control is not desired.
