ADIS16505-2BMLZ GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The ADIS16505 is a precision, miniature microelectromechanicalsystem (MEMS) inertial measurement unit (IMU) that includesa triaxial gyroscope and a triaxial accelerometer. Each inertialsensor in the ADIS16505 combines with signal conditioningthat optimizes dynamic performance. The factory calibrationcharacterizes each sensor for sensitivity, bias, alignment, linear acceleration (gyroscope bias), and point of percussion(accelerometer location). As a result, each sensor has dynamiccompensation formulas that provide accurate sensormeasurements over a broad set of conditions. The ADIS16505 provides a simplified, cost effective method forintegrating accurate, multiaxis inertial sensing into industrialsystems, especially when compared with the complexity andinvestment associated with discrete designs. All necessary motiontesting and calibration are part of the production process at thefactory, greatly reducing system integration time. Tight orthogonalalignment simplifies inertial frame alignment in navigationsystems. The serial peripheral interface (SPI) and registerstructure provide a simple interface for data collection andconfiguration control. The ADIS16505 is available in a 100-ball, ball grid array (BGA)package that is approximately 15 mm × 15 mm × 5 mm.
